Paul Ryan And The Republican Establishment Have Not One But Two Serious Challenges
First off the unwashed masses of Republicans out in the hinterlands have no interest in formal, bedrock conservative ideology like supply side economics, a silly theory claiming that lower taxes always pay for their selves by spurring economic growth. Rather they are excited by the demagoguery of Trump. He is now the heart and soul of a totally decayed party. Not the clowns in Washington pimping for Wall Street.
But getting back to taxes, sure supply side economics works when taxes are extraordinarily high. But that certainly is not the case today in most of America. More importantly there is a point at which lowing taxes strangles economic growth. Comparing California raising taxes on the rich with Kansas lowering taxes completely debunks Republican economic theory.
Since raising taxes, California has gone from a basket case to boom times, while drastically lowering taxes in Kansas has crashed its economy. So much for what papa Bush has called voodoo economics.
Bottom line, Paul Ryan and his ilk have no foundation for anything they profess. And worse, they have no followers.
