Trump The Impossible Target
By saying one thing one minute and the complete opposite the next and then following on with something completely unrelated to anything, there is no there there, thus making Trump at once a moving and an invisible target. His inconsistences don’t faze his backers one iota. What he says means little to them. It is his dog whistle tones that they adore about him.
He can relentlessly disparage Blacks and Hispanics in one instance and then turn about with a straight face to say how much he and they love each other. He is the ultimate greased pig of politics. There is no known counter attack to such schizophrenic campaigning.
Meanwhile, Hillary, projecting her consistent, rational plans and programs, makes for a very easy target. She is Trump’s mirror opposite.
Where Trump changes his story lines with exceptional rapidity, it hardly seems like lying, Hillary on the other hand edits her positions with such a glacial slowness that it only seems to underline and intensify a sense of untruthfulness about her. Thus when each calls the other out as a liar, Hillary takes the bigger hit.
It will be fascinating to see these two face to face in debate. Will Trump’s rope-a-dope flip-flopping in this setting be affective? Or will Hillary stop him cold with a sharp — can’t you make up you mind for one second?
