Y U NO OPEN LATER

The “Y U NO” meme took over American youth on social media and any connections to the internet around the year 2013. This is just long enough ago to make a comeback, and this could be the post to spark the revolution. I placed this outside of the Cannon Center cafeteria, because the hundreds of freshmen that live in Heleman Halls all seem to agree that 7:30 is too early to eat dinner every day. Most of the time, when cramming for midterms, writing papers that are more than 250 words, and partying, we wake up late, eat lunch late, and all we want is a late dinner to go alone with it but that’s against honor code. The Cannon Center refuses to bless us with its infinite hamburgers, cold chili, and stale cereal and it’s time to put an end to this hegemony. I chose this meme as my graffiti because I would’ve spent too long drawing something on the window to not get caught, and I figured a bright white box that shouldn’t be there would attract more attention from passing by freshmen. Kairos plays a part in this post because obviously, this sign wouldn’t make sense posted outside of the dorms or any other building on campus. The innocent humor of the piece fits everything that BYU stands for, except I couldn’t find a way to incorporate a caffeine joke, considering recent events. The logical appeal of this art is to inform the cafeteria of how many of their customers. This appeals emotionally through humor and the joy of laughing is incorporated with the joy of eating dinner later in the evening.
