Recently I started a new gig writing blog articles for a new mobile paging application. The product is called Pagem (a play on page them) and it works really well. Almost too well — as it can awaken the dead (aka, your peeps who never respond to their phones… you know the ones). Here’s the first three. I’m sure they’ll have me write more. For the past year I’ve been writing a lot of blog articles on Inventory Management for one of my clients (Skyware Inventory). With the right software a small business owner can track their inventory in real time, improve their cash flow, cut costs, and gain insights into how they are using their inventory. So I sat down with one of my clients a few years back (a software development firm in Austin, Texas) to pick their brain on how much custom software development costs for an article I wrote for them. By the time I was done I was pretty depressed. The days of some kid building some cool piece of software in the garage seem long gone. So I worked with a bunch of different firms over the last 25 years — and I’m stunned that they keep signing-up for the latest fad in enterprise software. But mom, all the other kids are doing it! Honestly. I have yet to meet an HR manager who actually thinks LameDay* is a good piece of software. Or a sales manager who’s ever been able to get a decent report out of SpaceForce*. But their C-Level executives gobble it up like it’s candy.

Better late then never they say. In my case I’m referring to building my own brand. After years working in and for a variety of web related enterprises I’ve decided it’s time to stop being lazy and curate my brand online. To that end I’ve setup this medium site, got myself hooked into LinkedIn, and so on. It’s something I’ve never been comfortable with (blame my upbringing)… but here goes. Wish me luck.
