I have loved Kotlin before it was mainstream, and I have used it in every space where otherwise I had to use Java (ie. Spring backends).

That being said, Android APIs do suck, and it doesn’t matter how much workarounds you put over that ill designed framework… it’ll still suck. Like perfuming a piece of shit (excuse my French). You are totally right about it.

A redesign of that API, or a way to abstract/hide it away are the solution. Webapps? I’m skeptical about that affirmation, but who knows.

Your article helped me to understand why, regardless of Kotlin, my gut still implied that Android Development was annoying. So thanks for that… now I have a more than a hunch to support my thoughts. Thanks!
