The Joker is undoubtedly one of, if not the most complex villain in pop culture in general. And in 2019, a movie that will probably tell the origin of the main batman antagonist will debut on the screen, with nothing less, than Joaquin Phoenix in the role of the ‘crazy clown’.

We will start with the analysis based on the story told in the comic book “The Killing Joke”. We can see that before there was the sadistic Joker, there was a man (whose name was never veritably quoted) who was going through financial and marital difficulties; he loved his wife, but the relationship was totally shaken by the problems, and the couple still expected a child. In “The Killing Joke,” we see the hard internal and everyday battle of a man who tries his best to provide for his family’s support, but without success, choosing the easiest way: crime.

For the teasers in the movie “Joker,” Joaquin Phoenix plays “Arthur,” and the similarities to the origin of the insane clown of DC Comics by the HQ quoted above are enormous: we see the daily humiliation Arthur goes through, his problems at home, at work , the physical, but mainly mental, weariness of a person who was trying to do everything to rebuild himself in life, thus making his psychological limit explored beyond the known limits. Madness embraces him, and he reciprocally embraces her, too, with a sense of hope, of not feeling any more alone, and in this he begins to explore his satisfaction at completely changing from a “vegetative” state to the standards of a a middle-aged man, to a state of total mental anesthesia, where there are no limits, no remorse, where everything that matters … It is his pleasure.

Every lover of the seventh art recognizes the talents and dedication that Joaquin Phoenix puts into his works. With a totally ‘different’ childhood and going through great pressures, losses and problems, clear examples of how great Joaquin’s talent is in his filmographies, in the film “The Master” (2012) and “You Were Never Really Here” (2017), Joaquin plunges deep into his emotions as a character, we are worried if he will get out of the way. Act as the most famous clown in pop culture history, it is not for anyone; a personage practically indecipherable, selfish, with clear traces of psycho and sociopatia, cruelty and sadism in the horror that causes. From what we see of Phoenix, we can be unconcerned about acting in the new film of the Joker, given the positive points of immersion and internal donation that he has in his office. It will not be easy, but Joaquin is competent enough to win big box office in 2019 acting as the arch-nemesis of Batman.
