49er’s Re-sign Running Back

Running Back Shaun Draughn left an impression on the 49ers that warranted re-signing for next season. They announced his new one-year contract on Wednesday. San Fransisco picked him up as a free agent after he was released by the Cleveland Browns in October, and Draughn started in six games before sustaining a knee injury.

Patriots Release Wide Receivers

Also on Wednesday, New England announced their decision to release Brandon LaFell and Scott Chandler. Both are receivers; LaFell a wide receiver and Chandler a tight end. Only five players in the whole NFL dropped more passes than LaFell last season, and Chandler’s role on the team diminished significantly throughout the season as well.

Cut After 11 Seasons

Roddy White, the greatest receiver in Falcon Franchise history, was cut from the team on Wednesday after 11 seasons. White was a first round draft pick in 2005 and ended his career with the Falcons with a total of 808 receptions and 10,863 yards. His head coach and general manager praised his performance and released him with thanks for all he has done for the team.
