Why I’ll Never Be Back To Thailand

Thailand was the first place outside Europe where I spent significant time traveling. Taking advantage of long summer holidays at university, I spent about 3 or 4 months there back in the mid-2010s.

It was an important experience in my life, since I fell in love with travel and have spent most of my time since then living in various countries around the world.

I met interesting people, had memorable experiences, and learned a lot. Some things I tried for the first time there, like Scuba diving, have become long-term hobbies.

But it also has to be said that I didn’t fall hopelessly in love with Thailand. In fact, it was one of the most frustrating places I’ve ever been, and I much preferred the other Southeast Asian countries that I visited around the same time.

I’ve returned on several occasions to a few of the countries I’ve been to, and there are many others…
