Is COBOL holding you hostage with Math?
Marianne Bellotti

Any language can implement a library to provide full implementation of rational numbers (i.e., fractions). But having to do formulas by calling library
routines is decidedly unfriendly. We could have stuck with macro-assemblers
if that was acceptable.

So the real issue is why so few compiled languages are supporting any forms
of native representations that are not binary integers or hardare supported
floating point.
