I’ve been scared to tell you this…
Did that title pique your curiosity?
The truth is…I love crystals. There is something about them that makes me smile.
I have memories that come up, and they just all around make me smile. There is a joy they bring — a subtle but artful and life affirming delight.
And I know there are those who would say they are silly, or ridiculous, or that anyone who believes in their different properties is just plain nuts.
But why do we hide these things? Is there something you love that you hide away from the world for fear of rejection or ridicule?
Admitting I love crystals feels like some deep, dark secret that I’m sharing with an overly critical world. And yet, my love of crystals is actually a form, and expression of light.
It is an experience of goodness — of joy.
And I don’t believe any joy — any true joy — can ever be bad.
When a joy comes from your soul, and is not just a means to cover up things in your life you don’t like, like a distraction or way of numbing — these are not true joy.
True joy springs from the soul.
True joy lives and dances and delights in the unsung mysteries of life. Of the joy of being a human being, dancing in form with the gift of free will.
True joy knows that we’re enough.
True joy asks us to follow the calling that lives within our hearts. The calling that CALLS to us through out hearts.
For it is when our heart calls — that we might be afraid. It is a vulnerable thing to bring your joy into the world.
We grow up as children with experiences of having our joy stomped on my adults. Trivialized, treated as an annoyance, or worst of all, blatantly scolded or punished.
It’s no different when we become adults. As we have the imprints of these experiences, the traumas continue to pile up until we’ve reached a state of conditioning so great, we can’t help but try to live up to what other people expect.
But that’s not where the treasure is.
The ultimate satisfaction comes from living a life that is in alignment with your soul.
A life that aligns with who you truly are and what your deepest (and brightest!) self truly wants.
And often that may look different from what other people expect, or what the world says you should do.
But you didn’t come here to live by the standards of the world. You came here to bring your brilliance, and your soul-shine to help brighten a world that so desperately needs it.
If all the world, and no one stands up to first be vulnerable and share their light, how will the world become any brighter?
The only way the collective — all of us, can feel more safe to share who we truly are, is by the grace of others who have had the courage to do the same.
So it’s really about more than just crystals. It’s about allowing your life to become an expression of joy. It’s about allowing yourself to love what you love, no questions asked and no holding back.
It’s about becoming the truest essence of yourself and allowing her to shine through in all that you do.
And I think you’re up to the challenge.
What would make your soul shine today?
Let’s do it — together.
And p.s., that little girl within you — the one who loves the things she loves, allow her to love what she loves and she’ll set your heart free in more ways than one. Are you ready to follow the whispers. Are you ready to trust your inklings and leap?
A journey of joy, just like any other, always begins with a single step. (Thank you for that one, Lau Tzu.) And I’d love to walk the journey with you.
I have a book club coming up in a couple weeks to do this very thing. We’ll be reading The Joy Diet by Martha Beck and adding new practices into our lives to bring greater joy, freedom, and connection to our authentic selves than ever before!
Would you like to join us? Learn all about it here.
Listen to the quiet voice that calls you forth — perhaps without any understanding at all — into the place of quiet and calm, with a joy that springs from the soul.
