Meet the CalAid Team!

CalAid is possible because of the volunteers who offer their time to sort, pack, label, distribute, fundraise etc. But there are four people who also work behind the scenes to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Here’s Becky Chapple, our Charity Manager

Becky has been with CalAid since October 2015 and at the forefront of CalAid’s growth and development since October 2016. She regularly represents CalAid in our partnership work with the UNHRC, MSF and Oxfam and advocates for a more humane and comprehensive provision for refugees in Greece.

Becky brings with her a wealth of experience from her work within the charity sector spanning over a decade including posts with the NSPCC, British Red Cross and the British Heart Foundation

Rose McGovern is CalAid’s Operations Manager

Rose joined the charity in May, having cycled to Greece from her work in Calais with L’Auberge des Migrants/ Help Refugees in Calais where she was responsible for logistics and redistribution of warehouse stock post ‘Jungle’. It was here that she came into contact with CalAid.

Rose is responsible for the operational management of our warehouse activities in Greece including stock management, volunteer coordination, and the charities finances.

A hard task master, Rose expects a lot from our wonderful volunteers, who she leads in daily activities to meet operational goals.

Sochel Rogers, Communications Lead and Optics Project Manager

Sochel first volunteered with CalAid in early 2016 alongside coordinating Cold Food distribution in the Calais ‘Jungle’ camp with Calais Kitchens. She joined the CalAid team on return from leading an ICS development project in Burkina Faso with International Service.

Having trained at Arts Educational Schools London, Sochel runs workshops in the UK on public speaking and being an active citizen, which has lead to a fellowship with the RSA.

As the voice of CalAid, Sochel combines her experience in both the arts and humanitarian sectors, and brings to the Optics Project skills in leadership and project management from working for NGO’s in Europe and West Africa.

Natasha Hawley is the Charity Administrator and Fundraiser

Tash began at an intern level with CalAid in July 2017. Having recently graduated from London with a degree specialising in philosophy, religion and ethics she became a staff member at the Heythrop College Students Union organising events and fundraisers , adding to her 6 years of experience in fundraising for charities.

Tash has international experience studying and working in Belgium, India and Greece; she recognises the importance of transnational cooperation and working on behalf of vulnerable people. This was particularly realised when she volunteered in ‘the Jungle’, where she first came into contact with CalAid.

Natasha brings warmth and heart to CalAid.

Could you see your face here? CalAid need volunteers up to 18th December 2017 to take down the warehouse stock to redistribute it to where it is more needed in Greece. Email info@calaid.co.uk to join us!
