Great take! I couldn’t agree more that “color-blindness” is detrimental, in so far as it allows the person to try and “wash their hands” of racism, and pretend that they are no longer part of the problem. Our society is the problem, and as parts of the society we are parts of the problem. However, after we acknowledge this, we can also all be parts of the solution. This only comes with an acceptance of the world as it is, with institutional racism running rampant. To be color blind is closing your eyes to the problem, but it doesn’t go away that easy.
