Justin J. Jackson: Keeping Culture Alive in Leimert Park One Portrait at a Time

Justin J. Jackson is currently renovating a space into a studio and gallery in Leimert Park to showcase his photography. A Los Angeles native, Jackson believes Leimert Park’s diverse community, vibrant culture and rich music history provide an ideal backdrop for his work.

J3Collection will be located near the corner of Leimert Park and Degnan Blvd.

Jackson takes inspiration from Leimert Park’s diverse African-American culture and music, especially the city’s “old jazz greats”: John Coltrain, Art Blakey and Marvin Gaye. He has shot portraits of some of today’s most influential musicians such as: Neyo, Jhené Aiko, Miguel, Willow Smith and Anthony Hamilton.
