My Desire

I want to be a man,

A keeper of what’s true,

I want to have a purpose,

More than the useless things I do,

I want to know what’s truly real,

What’s worthy of my time,

I have been convicted,

And stealing is my crime,

I’ve been given a time to live,

I’ve been appointed a time to die,

The hours that I squander,

Are a waste I can’t deny,

When my time is come to answer,

For the daily path I tread,

Will it be just a road of mistakes,

Or can I change what will be said,

Can I redeem the time I’ve lost,

Make up for mistakes I’ve made,

Can I spend my time wisely?

And be a man of different grade.
