THE FESTIVAL AND ANGOULÊME

Angoulême. France. January 2015.

At the end of January, the Angoulême chill is broken by the human warmth of people arriving in the city for the BD Festival. The great and famous comic festival of Angoulême.

Authors, readers and characters stumble across crowded pavilions and cold alleys, all in search of dreams put in comics, of sounds drawn in ink. Perhaps they are all in search of themselves, of their own childhood or of an idea for the future.

I am here for this festival, meeting other artists and publishers, but I have ended up fascinated by the silent part of the city, by the Angoulême that stays after the festival leaves. The sound of the cold stones and the story that the river, the rampart and the woods seem to want to tell.
