Introducing the Calladita DAO
A New Chapter for Calladita and Film3
Dear CALLADITA Community,
First of all, I want to express my infinite gratitude to each and every one of you, who supported my dream of making this film. We couldn’t have done any of it without you, and I hope you’re proud of having contributed to a project that has become a landmark of “Film3”.
In case you missed it, here’s a recap of recent updates, since we finished our NFT-funded film last fall:
- World Premiere: Celebrated at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival with enthusiastic responses and excellent reviews.
- Spanish Premiere: Held at the Málaga Film Festival in March.
- Festival Circuit: Currently showing across various European festivals, as well as BAFICI in Argentina, with an upcoming U.S. Premiere at the 50th Seattle International Film Festival this May.
- Spanish Theatrical Release: On May 17th, the film will be released in 50 cinemas across the country.
- This Summer, all holders will be able to watch Calladita via a token-gated streaming link, before anyone else can watch the film at home.
But today I am thrilled to announce the creation of the CALLADITA DAO.
As promised, the DAO will manage 50% of the film’s profits. All holders of the Calladita NFT Collection will become DAO members and be invited to make decisions on profit allocation via democratic voting.
By having such a specific purpose, we hope that the DAO will prove to be a useful new participant in the burgeoning Film3 ecosystem and help foster the new wave of decentralized cinema. This will be the mission of the DAO: proliferating Film3.
During the next few weeks, now that the Calladita DAO has been announced, we will open a period of open forum so that all DAO members have a chance to:
- Join the Discord and verify their Calladita NFTs
- Ask anything on the Discord so that we can clarify any points
- Give ideas, brainstorm, share thoughts for the future, start coordinating
After this initial period, the Discord will be closed so that only verified Calladita holders can participate.
Then, an interim Council will be appointed, which will have powers like suggesting projects for open voting, coordinating the DAO, etc…
And starting in Q4 2024, the CALLADITA team will start reporting on the film’s finances. All communications will happen on the Calladita Discord, which will be closed to use only by verified Calladita NFT holders.
Voting: the CALLADITA DAO governs over the treasury that is built from 50% of the profits of the movie. Voting will be proportionate to however much a certain DAO member contributed to the Calladita NFT fundraiser.
