How to Boost your Productivity now with this Google for Entrepreneurs hack.
Hi, if you are like most people, I am sure you use a Gmail ID. I say most people, because there are still a few holdouts who use aol.com, yahoo.com or even hotmail.com. Whatever the case, its a good idea to get a gmail ID, which is the defacto email platform for startups and small business. One of the biggest advantages is the Drive feature of the Google Cloud Platform, which is linked to your Google/Gmail account. Google’s products, which are being lumped together under “Google for Entrepreneurs”, which is backed by the Google Cloud Platform and the power of the $10.5 billion dollar investment that Google has made in its sprawling Data Center infrastructure across the US. Combine that with Google’s partnership with Starbucks to offer FREE WiFi at every single Starbucks store in Tampa Bay, and you have a cheap “coworking space” that is better than most of those so-called “co-working spaces” such in TB area (you know who they are!).
Anyway, beyond makeshift coworking is the power of the Cloud which is readily accessible via your Laptop and mobile devices. But wait, there’s more!
The beauty of the Google Cloud is in its reliability, speed and innovative features that becomes like a Cloud “Swiss Army Knife” for the bootstrapped entrepreneur. You can now effortlessly create documents of all types (.doc, .xls. ppt, etc) in the Cloud and instantly share it with your clients, prospects and partners. Add GCal or Google Calendar and Google Hangouts and you have a sophisticated toolkit that can increase your digital productivity immensely at a very affordable cost. Note: I use the Acer Chromebook, which I bought at my local Walmart for $197 (yes!) and it gives me as much as 10 hours of battery backup, which means I can even take it on a transatlantic road trip (flying across the pond, as they say), without missing a beat.
In my case, Google for Entrepreneurs (G4E) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP is a hidden gem that can increase your individual productivity and your team productivity by as much as 20% to 30% if everyone on your team uses it.
I estimate that Google Drive and Google Cloud cut my digital time costs by atleast 30 to 60 mins per day. In other words, the Google Cloud products (Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Youtube and the rest of the suite, plus some of its built in AI features, reduce my “opportunity costs” by say, an hour per day.
Now, if you are like most time-strapped, bootstrapped entrepreneurs like me, your time is your most valuable asset. From 5am till 10pm (my typical hours), I find that I have multiple projects, meetings and people I have to deal with. GCP and G4E allows me to do with this with a minimum of effort. But, I use a trick I will share with you. Assuming you have a Google Gmail address:
Next, click on the 9dots icon. This will give you access the Drive. See below.

Click on the Drive Icon
Create a Folder under August, and then a subfolder, and call it Aug31 (assuming today is Aug31). There, I have I create an “all-important document” and call it notes aug31. Now, the G4E magic begins.
I use this document, pretty much as a template for all my daily work. See below and you will get an idea of what this does for me.

Lets look at the Cloud Daily document template (call it notes 8.31.18).

See what I have in this document and you will see what Google has done to make my life easier. Its very simple, but its also very powerful in that the gCloud folders and documents cut out the chores like create, save, type url, etc to “point and click” and bingo, things become so much easier to do. In fact, using the Cloud at Starbucks is like night and day compared to what it was in the pre-Drive era. Back then, we would have to worry about backups, drive failure, system crashes and all kinds of maintenance headaches. No more!
Try it and see how your productivity improves, whether it is for a single entrepreneur, a virtual team or a startup or a small business. You will find that you can get great things done and leave the chores of Data Center work to Google, which maintains a fast, reliable, global network of Data Centers.
Now, you can leverage the power of the $10 billion Cloud infrastructure from the comfort of home, office, Starbucks or TB Airport. And many times, for free. Google makes its money from its ad business and I guess they have used those investments to help out American consumers and entrepreneurs.
If you have any questions, about how Google Cloud and Google for Entrepreneurs can help you cut costs, increase sales and help you to achieve compliance in your startup or small business, pls reach out to me.
