In books like Doing Good Great, Democratic Insecurities, or White Man’s Burden, we hear how aid dependency and ineffective can be counterproductive. That’s why local-led responses, things like Kiva, unconditional cash transfers, and everything around the effective altruism movement have come to light.

The aid industry is asking itself; “how can we do the most good?”

As a 21 year old, I left a high-paying and soulless career to move to Zambia. I could see poverty with my eyes, and even harsher poverty on the peripherals.
