Bicol International Airport : 12 years in the making.

The Bicol region is about to get another boost in it’s development with the groundbreaking of the Bicol International Airport this coming Wednesday December 10,2016, said event is to be graced by President Rodrigo Duterte.

The 4.8 billion Bicol International Airport to be built at Barangay Alobo, Daraga marks the second of two major infrastructure projects aimed to transform the Bicol region into the primary investment haven, the other being the South Luzon Railway approved by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board which will run from Tutuban, Manila to Matnog Sorsogon and projected to cost 214 billion pesos.

Progress with the Bicol International Airport was has been delayed for more than a decade having spanned the terms of former presidents Gloria Arroyo and Benigno Aquino 3rd. This however changed with the initiative of present president Rodrigo Duterte who prioritized the building of infrastructure within the first months of his term.

This project was spearheaded by Gov. Al Bichara in the early 2000 and was further pursued by now Congressman Joey Salceda, who furthered pitched it during his term as governor. With Gov. Bichara’s re election last may and subsequently being voted as the chairman of the Regional Development Board (RDC) he asked the Depratment of Transportation (DOTr) to revise the feasibility study to comply with international standards.

So what does all this mean for the common Bicolano? with the greater emphasis on infrastructure further investments would follow suit. Another possibility is a tourism boom due to the improved facilities, with average tourist projected to be 1.2 million by 2025, which means more job opportunities to open up .This is also a great boon for travelers, businessmen and tourists as this opens up southern Luzon as another gateway to the Philippines and spares one the troubles of booking a domestic flight to traffic ridden Manila.

The right side road leads directly to the new International Airport

Camella Legazpi residents can also benefit from this as it is strategically located along the Taysan-Daraga Highway which leads directly to the new airport, great news for our OFW buyers! like other Camella Projects it is also located near workplaces, schools, malls, places of worship and other key places in the city.
