More people working on stuff that matters
My Enspiral Journey
This is a story about my connection to Enspiral Org Academy. I already knew the Enspiral community because I was following Phoebe’s incredible work on the networks.
My journey in the Enspiral began as I traveled around Europe. I was backpacking at that time in Belgium when I saw Phoebe’s post informing them about their workshop in Brussels. I was so excited about the news that I texted right away asking if I could participate.
And although the tickets are sold out and I don’t have the enough money to do the course. My trip savings were at an end. I got a scholarship to attend. Which I greatly appreciate all the attention and availability of the Enspiral team. I’m so grateful.
It was then that I understood the true power of the community and the power to live in a network and share resources and become a more collaborative person. That’s the meaning of the community.
So I followed my journey, took a train to a small town in the middle of nowhere in Belgium, to the old Oude Abdji Drongen. In the Flemish part of the country. What was amazing to know that culture and connect with people. That was a unique experience. I’ve met people from all the world that are trying to create a new way of living, do business and governance.

What is an Enspiral ? I think is about PEOPLE.
As a community they’ve supported hundreds of people to launch and build all sorts of initiatives, projects and world-changing ventures.
How do they organize themselves?
Our mission is to support people who want to spend their lives changing the world. We work together to build collaborative tools and processes to build our livelihoods together. — Enspiral

Sharing Money — Co-Budget helps them to develop participatory budgets.
Sharing Control — They use Loomio for collaborative decision-making
Sharing Information — Our Handbook documents all of our agreements and guidelines.
What I’ve learned at Enspiral Org Academy ?
A practical training in decentralized governance
“The development of the self is the development of the organization.”
Initiator, Leader, Coordinator, Entrepreneur, facilitator. What does servant leadership mean in a non-hierarchical, distributed network, where there are no bosses? How could you facilitate and activate the collective potential of an incredible group professionals brought together by a passion for positive social impact ?
I’ve learned a lot about the decentralized organizations on the four days of Enspiral training. A culture of better working together. Work daily with and around others who identify with this culture. This means they check in before meetings. They value and take care of everyone we work with. They value the impact of work on the world. They prioritize the construction of an inclusive world. They prioritize the construction of a sustainable world. They prioritize dismantling patriarchy and healing the wounds it has inflicted.
Building a strong, participatory community can’t be dictated by force, or decided by a few on behalf of many. It requires the collective of hearts, minds and intent. We need to invest time to understand the work we need to do together as an organisation. When more people understand what the group needs to succeed, and where the skills are, more people can step into effective co-leadership.
We need Care for people! Business with profit, not for profit.
The best thing I've heard on Enspiral was this quote from Anthony Cabraal in the beginning of training, “Finding the stuff that matters”, discovering an intervention that could really help others.
You are a virus. Be a good one.
I had meet five strangers facilitators that change my mindset, Phoebe Tickell, Richard Bartlett, Antony Cabraal, Joriam Philipe and Natalia Lombardo. Each of them from a part of the world. They work together in networking building ventures around the world for a positive impact. They work contributes to the power and potency of deep care for people and planet, radical ambition for systems change, and the commercial drive to get things done. I’ve got inspired!
I’ve improved my leadership skills and participated in hands-on training with meeting simulations and group dynamics. what helps me to clarifying how to involve people on the decision-making, how to involve people in the process, become real empathy. Respect my boundaries. Sharing money, information and control, engaging as equals, prioritize relationships, because the great people grow up together. Find opportunities, no jobs. Anyone can.
Companies of future will be a community.
The right people hire themselves.

After four days, in this immersive, in the middle of Belgium, i just have to say thank you guys for activating this community and the work you guys are doing from the world. You’re awesome. I’m so grateful to be part of this.
