Senior Product Manager | Nov, 2013 — Oct, 2018
I led the product strategy to unify several ideas into a SaaS product used by hundreds of wedding venues (and hired a great team of people to work with)

ps. I’ve taken a few videos of the product in action.

The Challenge

Your Enquiry Manager (YEM) is a startup founded by Chris Hall. Chris was an award-winning photographer who shot weddings around the world.

Before hanging up the camera, he identified the trouble wedding suppliers have to get referrals from venues to couples planning their wedding. So he started YEM to create a system that automatically sends referrals to a list of pre-qualified suppliers.

I joined YEM to help turn a good idea into a great product.

When I joined there were several major hurdles to building a successful product including:

  • Several unconnected product ideas
  • No user experience considerations
  • Haphazard development process

Process

New project requirements would come in from the CEO and from analysing users needs

Larger projects required workshopping with the whole team. We’d create personas, journey maps, experience workflow diagrams, and wireframes.

I would then work with the development team to breakdown the requirements into cards in Jira. We used agile development and sprints to keep everything on track.

I was also responsible for the front-end design. My design workflow was to take lofi sketches and markup a basic HTML structure. I’d then design with a browser and text editor (Atom).

Products

Over the years I was at YEM we developed a number of products and features. Here’s a sample of my work.

Enquiry tool

The enquiry tool is a small JavaScript snippet venues load on their website to capture leads

The enquiry capture tool can also be accessed by a direct link, perfect for sites, like Wix, that block JavaScript
