Thank you for sharing this piece! Love the comparison between being an outlier as a company and as an individual. I strongly believe that differentiation is a critical element to lasting brand value for a company or product, so it makes complete sense to me that one’s personal brand should be differentiated. Of course, the characteristics that differentiate should be seen as valuable to the customer — or, in the case of personal brand, to those who know you or know of you. However, I do believe there is also sometimes a space for differentiation that is simply attention-grabbing… but this should probably be coupled with stellar performance!
