Announcing the Kit Partner Program
We created Kit to help people discover and discuss the best products. Our talented community of creators are making kits about what they use and recommend, based on their real-life experiences.
We’re inspired to see the creativity of the many experts, tastemakers, and creators using Kit to connect with their followers — whether it’s top podcaster Tim Ferriss broadcasting his podcast kit; beauty vlogger Avielle Amour showing off the gear she uses to create her videos; or desk setup king Techsource running setup contests with his community.
One of the things that we’ve heard consistently from our creator community is that they are always looking for new ways to monetize, so that they can focus on their craft: creating great content.
That’s why we’re incredibly excited to announce we’re starting the Kit Partner Program, a new way for creators to easily make more money with Kit. Kit partners will have access to a growing list of features, including:
- Automatic link monetization: if there is an affiliate program that you belong to that we don’t currently directly support, you can paste the affiliated product link in directly when adding the product to your kit and you will earn your normal affiliate revenue from that program.
- Automatic country detection for Amazon links: anyone clicking on a link in a kit will be brought to the product in their local country’s Amazon store. You can learn more about how this works here.
Kit provides a great way for creators to communicate with their fans about the products they use — in a way that can’t be done elsewhere. For creators who are asked on multiple platforms, multiple times a day about the products they use and recommend, Kit solves a real need: creating a beautiful, centralized place to answer fan questions; building up the repository of their recommendations over time; providing simple tools for sharing including short + sweet URLs that help creators further build their audience and ensures their product recommendations are surfaced to all their followers, existing and new.
The Kit Partner Program adds monetization features to this unique toolset. Over the coming months we’ll continue to expand the program, launching new ways for Kit creators to monetize — helping them focus on continuing to make great content.
Recently, Hank Green detailed in a great post the increasing number of influential internet content creators there are today: over 37,000 creators earning 1M+ YouTube views/month, and 300,000 earning 100K+ views/month. Imagine the scale when you consider Twitch, Instagram, Musical.ly, Snapchat, Vine, Twitter, Facebook, in addition to YouTube. And with audience sizes growing, there is still so much opportunity when it comes to monetization.
As a former YouTube employee myself, I remember the early days Hank alluded to, when there just weren’t that many creators getting a huge volume of views each month. Today, in this new era of creators and influence, I’m so pleased to build creator-friendly tools from the start, and make Kit into a platform that truly puts creators first.
