‘Tis the season
This week we say goodbye to January and hello to February. It seems so easy to let this part of the year tick by. But really there is so much going on.
The Campfire Kids are exploring the idea that by connecting to the seasons, life will slow down, as we become more in tune with our surroundings.
It has been a great week for getting seasonal: Winter Watch on the iplayer, which has lead to plenty of conversations about wildlife at this time of year and what we can look out for. There has been the RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch this weekend. So we have been thinking about what birds are around and why, how to attract them into our garden and why they need our help.
We are paying attention to seasonal food and have shared a couple of charts showing seasonal foods for January. And we are beginning to think about sewing seeds and the bigger picture of what jobs can be done in the garden.
SlowFlo and I attended the New Forest National Park Volunteer Fair today and we found so much to get involved in locally, with kids and following the seasons. We’ll be sharing some of our findings this week. We’ve got planting ideas for kids in gardens, seasonal food, seasonal ideas for halfterm and small conservation projects to join in with.
