The nearly invisible bully, keeps women from working, children from learning, and families from living long, healthy lives. So, it is time to fight dirty. It is time to fight THE dirty. And we need you to fight with us. 663 million people in the world live without clean water, that is nearly 1 in 10 people worldwide. That is the crisis we are in and we need your passion, grit and your voice. So here at charity : water, we’re working to end the water crisis. We’re a nonprofit organization on a mission to bring clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries. With the help of hundreds of thousands of generous supporters, we’ve funded more than 16,000 water projects in 24 countries, bringing clean water to 5.2 million people so far. And we’re just getting started.

When people don’t have access to clean water, they drink disease-filled water instead. They don’t have a choice. And how do they get it? They walk for it. Mostly, the job falls to women and children, who might walk up to four hours a day to collect dirty water. That’s time they can’t spend caring for their families, earning income, or learning in school. When a community gets clean water, lots can change. It can improve health, decrease medical expenses, increase equality, give girls more time in school, and give women the chance to grow food or earn income. Why did we chose to focus on water? Because we’re on a mission to change everything. And we believe that changing everything starts with clean water.

You may ask, what makes us unique? 100% of all public donations directly fund water project costs, we prove every project we build using photos and GPS coordinates on Google Maps, and we work with strong local implementing partners to build and maintain projects.

We invest the money we raise into organizations with years of experience to build sustainable, community-owned water projects around the world. Our team works closely to ensure that every dollar is accounted for and then provides reports back to our donors. Learn about our approach, the solutions we fund and our partners on the ground.

We’re not just about funding new wells, we’re also taking care of the ones we’ve already built. This is how we ensure that our water projects continue to provide clean water to communities long after they are installed. Pipeline is a system of local leaders, innovative technology and trained mechanics all working together to keep water flowing at charity: water projects around the world, just to mention another form of how we are making a difference.

Many of us have no idea what it’s like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink — even the water in our toilets is clean!

But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world. So, lets go spread the word, donate, or anything at all. Bike for clean water, paint for clean water, or run for clean water…because the craziest thing you can do is nothing. Make our normal, their normal.
