I am continually impressed by the work this team has been doing. They are tackling some very large problems and in the end are saving hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars. This is a very important point and should not be overlooked.

It’s not just the federal government IT projects that need help, though. At the state and local levels, taxpayer money is being misspent at a disturbing rate. I speak with our public school districts every day about the expensive software contracts they’re forced to maintain because the vendors have them locked in with no way of escaping.

I am working on standardizing the web site architecture for all 14,000+ public school districts in the country. By establishing a standard and a low-cost option (built on top of WordPress), school districts can finally get their web sites out of the Internet dark ages where they’ve been left to rot by the vendors who have been milking the E-Rate cash cow for the past 18 years.
