Jobs for Filipinos in Canada

Filipinos who are either Canadian residents or soon to be immigrating to Canada have plenty of opportunity in the Canadian job market. The Department of Labour and Employment in Canada has recently announced that there are thousands of jobs available to residents and immigrating workers in Canada of both Filipino and other foreign descent.

Where do Filipino Canadians work?

At this time, there are more than 14 000 jobs available to foreign workers in Canada. Filipinos in Canada are some of the highest paid foreign workers and according to the Canadian Department of Labour and Employment, the vast majority of Canadian employers who have worked with foreign workers in the past preferred working with Filipinos to most other nationalities due to their loyalty and strong work ethic. The Filipino-Canadian community today

In just a few short decades, Canada’s Filipino community has grown from less than a thousand residents to become one of the country’s largest immigrant demographics. At present, over 500 000 Filipinos call Canada home and this number is increasing rapidly each year. In recent years, the Philippines has been the greatest source of immigrants to Canada. In 2012 alone, over 32 000 new Canadian Permanent Residents came to Canada from the Philippines. Still more traveled to Canada that year to work (44 000) and study (918) — an all record high for the country. The Filipino community has become well integrated into the community of Canadian society. Many members of Canada’s Filipino community maintain strong ties with their home country, which in turn has led to strengthening of bilateral relations between Canada and the Philippines.

Since the 1990’s, immigration from the Philippines has increased steadily. Today, Toronto has over 200 000 Filipino immigrants who reside in the town.
