Beth Comstock I love this piece. It has been intersting for me coming into GE Healthcare on how to help teams that are silo’d to look up and out. To not only see what the future may be based on an incremental improvement, but to see what the future can be if you look beyond what is, and consider what could be. I personally have used medium from Seth Godin, James Victore, Issac Asimov, Dr. Mesko, John Nosta, and Orwell to gain my own inspiration and ideas for the future.
I also believe it is important to look to history to generate where our next steps may be in the short term. For example, if healthcare begins to look at the evolution of gas stations…they went from full service where someone pumps your gas and washes your windows with 2 pumps to multiple stations of pump your own gas and pay as you go. For healthcare could this mean going from hospitals to neighborhood clinics to now diagnosing self at home and one touch diagnosis down the street? Does it mean connecting the 95% of my context of life to the 5% of medical informatics to generate a choose your own adventure future?
Most important is Metcalfe’s Law…who is the trusted node in the network to connect it all together? Thank you for being an inspiration. ~Andy
