1. Coding has over 700 languages

There are 350 languages spoken in the United States, but coding has us beat with over 700 languages in use today!

2. First programmer

A woman holds the title of the first programmer in the world. Her name is Ada Lovelace, and she was born in 1815. It is thought that Lovelace wrote the first algorithm intended for a machine.

3. First programming language

The world’s first programming language was called FORTRAN (an acronym for Formula Translation), which was created in 1956. The group that made it, driven by Mr. John Backus, began dealing with it in 1954.
