I agree Serge, and we’ve certainly discussed this before… but the ideal I think we agree on is less of a badge backpack and more of a combination of FOAF-SSL style PKI and a block chain as a distributed web of trust.

The current backpack resembles the 1990’s era of SSL PKI reliant on trusted institutional CAs and is (IMHO) antithetical to the idea of distributed trust and personal agency.
