While I agree with all the suggestions here I think you, and the wonderful xkcd comic, failed to emphasize that the length has a much larger impact on the difficulty to crack a specific password. As pointed out by Steve Gibson on his password haystacks page (https://www.grc.com/haystack.htm) once a password is complex enough to not be on a dictionary or common password list and must actually be brute force attacked, length trumps complexity. To quote the page “Once an exhaustive password search begins, the most important factor is password length!” I would love to see this wisdom incorporated into suggestion lists such as yours.
