You mention the exaggeration and design extremes that goes into making Ursula’s villainy so entertaining to watch. Despite her witchiness and her terrible intentions, I find her so entertaining — like, “don’t forget about the power of BODY LANGUAGE, HA!” (1:40) In that moment she’s sort of crude, emphasized by the way she moves and the bongos (?) that play in the background, and it’s funny. It’s also exactly the sort of thing that would go entirely over my head as a kid. I also find it interesting how the colors change on Ursula’s face throughout the scene — they change from her normal purply skin tone to a blush pink, gold, teal, and a colder blue once she’s gotten what she wants. As they go along, they also make her look more garish and monstrous, so even kids can detect how her silver tongue is belied by her increasingly hideous nature.
