Cheers to our new data scientists from Stellenbosch
We are very proud to announce that Ryan and Jacqueline are joining the Cape Town AI team and will work together for one of our clients in Stellenbosch.
About Jacqueline
Jacqueline is originally from Namibia and was schooled in Cape Town at the German International School. She completed her undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering at Stellenbosch University in 2017 and continued with her postgraduate studies at the same institution, with a focus on sentiment analysis (NLP), machine learning and decision support. She also spent a semester abroad at the Technical University of Munich to fortify her skills in data mining and deep learning. She is thrilled to join the Cape Town AI team, for the moment on a part-time basis, and to contribute towards supporting data-driven, effective and sustainable decisions in the industry. In her free time, she loves to travel, surf, play music and spend time outdoors.
About Ryan
Born and bred in the wine land filled valleys of Worcester, one could say that our newest recruit, Ryan Reed, has spent several years aging in the cellars of academia. That is to say that the saying, “an apple a day will keep the doctor away,” won’t quite work in Ryan’s case.
Having completed his doctorate degree in the field of behavioral operation research, Ryan is currently pursuing a career in the field of machine learning. Although his interests vary across several sub-disciplines related to the aforementioned field, they share an underlying dedication to the use of methods of qualitative analysis to better understand the human experience. Ryan certainly seems ready to get his hand dirty solving problems in practice with the Cape Town AI team, and as a self declared nerd with a passion for the sustainable development of South Africa, it seems he’ll fit right in.
