The base surface:

With hedgehogs tiny feet they are better running on flat surfaces. So mesh and wire would probably hurt them, so limiting their activeness.

Cage measurements:

You want to make sure that you get a big enough cage for them to run and play but, not too big to where your hedgehog feels like it is a big open space. The perfect size is 4 x 4 or 24 square feet. If you get a bigger one make sure to fill it up with more stuff since hedgehogs don’t like big open spaces.

Hedgehog safety:

You want your hedgehogs cage to be as safe as possible which means no sharp objects, and all of their toys should be safe. Make sure the temperature is always between 72–80 degrees. So avoid putting their cage near windows or a cold corner because the cold can affect their health

Types of hedgehog cages:

The market has a lot of different types of cages. Just make sure they are good quality and suite your family and hedgehog the best!

Wire cages:

These cages are most common. They often have a deep pan and a solid bottom. Wire cages haver a lot of floor space compared to the other cages on the market. They also can protect your hedgehog from pets and small children. But, quality is key so make sure the wire is durable.

Plastic containers:

These cages are lightweight, durable, and portable. They are also easy to clean and sanitize. However they might not be big enough for your hedgehogs needs so if you do want to go with this cage for your hedgehog make sure it is up to the measurement standards that are good for your hedgehog.

Glass aquariums:

This could also be a habitat for your hedgehog if you have one laying around. However these can be cumbersome, heavy, expensive, and difficult to clean.

You want to make sure that you have a great home for your hedgehog. You want it to be comfortable, sturdy, and up to your hedgehogs standards. I hope you have fun housing these cute, small pets
