If i were in that state of mind

The bell jar kind

Where nothing has sense

No feeling and without heart

The kind where hope had died and been buried.

The state of mind that seems eternal

Where nothing seems to help

Being told that light is after dark

As obsolete as the horse carriage.

The state of mind

Whose weight can smother out the bravest of hearts

Extinguishing the flames of the brightest enthusiasm

If i were in that state of mind

Perhaps i would find a method

One without meaning, as cold as my heart

Or the method as a message,

A scourge for those that follow

A state of mind that would take me from many

That robs me of chances

That would leave me without words

No matter what was left, good or bad

Righteous or evil

With note or without

That is all it is

A state of mind that can be changed.

It may be embraced, letting it ruin

Or fight.

Go to war with your mind and lead the strike.

Even though outnumbered you may be

So when you find yourself in that state of mind

Fight on, and endure,

that your heart may endure more.
