The Current State of Adaptive Design
Charlie Deets

“These tools formed a way of thinking in my mind of how designs can use constraints to adapt to their containers. I continue to find that to be a useful mindset when I’m designing and I want access to that same logic in my design tools.”

I think this is exactly what designers need to do. Designers need to have an understanding of how the components we design are transformed into code including their classes, constraints and relationships. Then the design process becomes faster and easier.

But all of this needs to start with how designers construct components within their design tool. A designer is only as good as their toolset. A toolset that allows designers to design with constraints saves time, reduces the amount of pixel pushing and allows us to understand more relationships between the objects were using.

Sometimes I wonder if designers should just use code to design…but then tools like Subform are created and become game changers.
