No, Allowing Trans Athletes To Compete Won’t Destroy Women’s Sports

“What if, say, Shaquille O’Neal in his prime came out as transgender, changing his name to Shanita?”

Oh, oh wow; I’m always puzzled there are people who think this is how the world works. If Shaq came out and began transitioning … so? So what? I’ve been on hormones for a month and I’ve lost easily 50% of my strength already despite doing yoga.

People who are profoundly ignorant of the process do not understand how completely hormones change you. Older transsexual women may retain some masculine facial features and all post-pubescent trans women have wider hips and shoulders and a different-shaped ribcage, but on an athletic level, if you have been on estrogen long enough it doesn’t matter what genitals you have.

We’re not faking it, we’re not men in disguise, we’re not men at all. Transphobes love to objectify us by our sexual organs, as though your genitals define who you are. Just like how if you have a vagina it means you have to pop out a baby every nine months and do the cooking, right? smh
