The state of Arunachal Pradesh’s top school of higher learning, Rajiv Gandhi University (formerly Arunachal University), has been operating for 25 years. On February 4, 1984, the late Smt. Indira Gandhi, the country’s prime minister at the time, laid the university’s cornerstone in Rono Hills, the site of the current campus. The institution has worked to attain excellence and carry out the goals outlined in the University Act ever since it was founded. On March 28, 1985, the University Grants Commission granted it academic status under Section 2(f), and on April 1, 1985, the University officially opened for business. On March 25, 1994, it received financial recognition under the UGC’s Section 12-B. Since then, Arunachal, then the Rajiv Gandhi University.

Since being chosen as a university with potential for distinction by a high level expert committee of the University Grants Commission from among universities in India, Rajiv Gandhi University and then Arunachal University have carved out a position for themselves in the national educational landscape. According to a notice from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, the University became a Central University with effect from April 9, 2007. The University is situated on a scenic tableland of 302 acres at the summit of the Rono Hills, with a view of the river Dikrong.
Rajiv Gandhi University Library –
In the state of Arunachal Pradesh, Rajiv Gandhi University is the top-ranked institution for higher learning. It has been in operation for 32 (thirty two) years. In the year the University was founded, a small collection of volumes were added to the Central Library. The Central Library serves as the centre of all academic activities and gives the university community access to knowledge and information. Its two storage buildings include small stack areas and roomy reading halls. Currently, there are 64,400 books in the library, along with numerous national and international publications. Additionally, the library offers users access to more than 10,000 full-text articles from various online journals published by various consortiums.
Rajiv Gandhi University Hostel –
With a total capacity of 1024 inhabitants and amenities including common rooms, TVs, and indoor games, the university maintains 12 (Twelve) halls of residence (6 for men and 6 for women). The tenants of the halls cooperatively manage their own mess. A Warden oversees each residence hall. Every hall has a student prefect. Residence hall admission is based on a combination of merit and reservations set by the university. However, it should be remembered that boarders must exit the residence halls for regular maintenance throughout the summer and winter breaks. There is additional housing available for B.Ed/M.Ed, standard M.Phil, and Ph.D. researchers in different residential halls.
Rajiv Gandhi University Labs –
Government medical institutions all over the state will now have molecular biology labs thanks to a decision made by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. Students have access to top-notch lab facilities at the university to perform both fundamental and practical research. The Physical Therapy Clinical Lab is equipped with the best technology. There are eight motorised high-low tables among the 25 treatment tables. In-depth exams are also performed by instructors and students to evaluate muscular, nutritional, and cardiovascular health. The Human Performance Lab is also used by the university’s Sam Fit Community Testing Program.
Rajiv Gandhi University Sports –
The campus offers workers and students both indoor and outdoor sports facilities. There is an athletic field there as well as tables for playing table tennis, basketball courts, and football grounds. The university provides facilities for the development of highly skilled professionals in a variety of sports.
