I would like a women’s undershirt with sleeves, please

When I started working in corporate America, I learned two things right away.

1- I really enjoy wearing button-down shirts.

2- I get really sweaty when I wear button-down shirts.

This isn’t surprising. I am a human adult, and it’s normal for human adults to sweat when it’s hot outside and they’re wearing a shirt that hugs their armpits. It’s also normal to get pit stains. The problem is, while these things are normal, either of these things is considered professional. Especially if you’re a woman.

So, I decided to take a cue from the boys on this one. It’s common knowledge that under every single button-down you see on a business-casual clad man is a white Hanes t-shirt. These are worn for the very problem I’ve been having: button-down shirts make you sweaty, and being sweaty looks gross. I thought that even though I’m a woman, I could join in on this trend and no one would be the wiser.

OH HOW I WAS WRONG.

Have you ever searched for women’s undershirts? If you do, you’ll make a quick discovery. NONE of them have sleeves. Meaning, none of them cover your armpits. Meaning, if you wear one with a button-down, you will still get sweaty and have pit stains. I’ve searched high and low, and there seems to be no true woman equivalent to the classic Hanes white t.

If I were a larger person, this would maybe not be such a big deal. I could just buy the smallest men’s size and be on my way. Unfortunately, I’m about the size of a pre-pubescent 12-year-old boy, which gave me an idea… I could just buy t-shirts for boys.

So I did. I bought a pack of boys white t-shirts. They were ok, except for the fact that even though I got v-necks, I still had to cut all the necks off of the undershirts because they came up so high that it looked like I was wearing a mock turtle neck under my button-down, which was weird. So, my problem was kind of solved but not really. This lead me to further search what I could find that would be more tailored to women’s clothes. I eventually found an undershirt from uniqlo AIRism that was short-sleeved, white, and had a deep scoop-neck. It’s perfect, but costs $12.90 for just one shirt. A pack of men’s Hanes costs about that but for a 3-pack.

Apparently women aren’t supposed to sweat, and if they do, they must spend A LOT more money than men on undershirts that actually cover their armpits and are made to work with/ under their clothing. It’s ridiculously unfair, since the last time I checked, there’s no science behind women sweating less. Just an old, sad, societal norm. So, can someone from Hanes or Fruit of the Loom please make an undershirt for women that has sleeves and doesn’t fall victim to the pink tax?

Am I asking too much?
