Moving Into My Next Act
Crawl, walk, run — that’s how I would best describe my relationship with Adam Pittenger.
Adam and I met three years ago when we were both speaking on a CREtech panel about innovation in multifamily technology. I was immediately impressed — he was a product-driven leader and possessed the right blend of skill, passion, and empathy. We hit it off right away and, in a short period, became each other’s sounding boards and developed a friendship grounded in respect, honesty, and vulnerability. Founding a company is the most rewarding and loneliest job in the world. Adam became someone in my life who made the gig feel a lot less lonely.
Last year, as I was stepping away from the company I co-founded, Adam was evolving his business in a major way. Moved was in the process of bringing a new product to market for the multifamily industry, a platform to streamline onboarding for operators and their residents. I took one look at the product and knew I wanted to be involved. I began advising Adam on his go-to-market strategy and made a sizable personal investment into the company.
In the words of Sam Walton, “There is only one boss. The customer.” An incredible customer experience is the ultimate competitive advantage. For the multifamily industry, that means placing the resident at the center of everything, using every opportunity available to make the resident experience easy and enjoyable.
Historically, in our industry, there has been little innovation or efficiency “post-sale.” Today, moving is cited by consumers as one of the top three most stressful life events; the process of onboarding new residents into properties is inefficient, time-consuming, and expensive for multifamily operators. Moved’s software represents the panacea — a modern, hospitality-driven experience that saves multifamily operators time and money and delivers the best possible experience to new residents. Moved has the opportunity to reinvent the most important touchpoint in the customer journey and usher in a new era of experience in multifamily.
Today, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve joined Moved as President and Chief Strategy Officer. I will be responsible for sales/business development, marketing, and people operations (we’re hiring so please reach out to me if you’re interested in any of those things). I will continue to support Camber Creek as their first Entrepreneur-in-Residence as well as continue my own personal advising and investing activities in some of the most compelling companies in the world. I am beyond excited for what the future holds.
To my industry friends, mentors, and partners — I look forward to continuing to work and learn from you. This industry is a special one and it’s the people in it that make it great.
To the entire Moved team — I am honored to be a part of this team and look forward to working together to bring your vision to reality. Let’s run.
