Thank you for this well-written, thoughtful expose of TripAdvisor. As an American who owns 2 lodges in rural Africa, I have nothing but contempt for TA. I struggled for a year (after falling for the steep business fee), trying to understand how to properly engage with this company, until finally, I gave up. One of our lodges has the coveted “award of excellence, whatever, blah-blah-blah” and the other has a page filled with mis-information, dated photos, and astonishingly, is listed in the wrong location, and they will not fix it! It creates confusion and definitely hurts our business. Everyone in our hospitality community hates them, but the more off-the-main-track lodges are always insecure about filling their rooms and so capitulate. We are blessed with an incredible location and so people find us despite TA’s mis-information. Needless to say I won’t be renewing my recently expired business membership. Is there such a thing as an international Class-Action lawsuit?
