New in name but not in concept, digital nomads and expats have long paved the way to workcations pre-COVID, but Caribbean destinations have now seemingly perfected it. Lured by promises of paradise and digital nomad visas, some remote workers took the plunge with one curious destination. …

Two Lesser-Known Belize Islands You Should Explore

The Belize islands of Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker are really well-known and for good reason. They are buzzy, offer all the amenities, and are located on the doorstep of Belize’s most beautiful locations. But if you are looking for somewhere a bit more off-the-beaten-track, then add these two Belize islands to your itinerary.

The Best Places To Live In Northern Belize In 2021

The fact that Belize hasn’t transformed into the most popular travel destination in Central America is surprising — but it’s actually one of the country’s biggest assets. Belize offers most of the qualities vacationers look for in a destination, but the fact that it flies under the radar means that it’s become an ideal choice for foreigners looking to retire. Add in the fact that English is the official language of Belize and a government that’s eager for more residents from abroad, and you’re left with a tropical paradise that’s tailor-made for retirees. Northern Belize is a stretch of the…

How Belize Is Carving Out Inclusive Tourism for World Tourism Day 2021

Highlighting the importance of the travel sector, World Tourism Day is celebrated annually on September 27 — carved out by the United Nations to honor one of the world’s most important industries. Now more than ever, the appreciation for travel and tourism is at an all-time high and Belize’s tourism industry (which accounts for over 40% of Belize’s national GDP) has several reasons to get travelers excited. Not only to get back to its shores but to get travelers back knowing they will be supporting a wave of inclusive growth tourism.

Canada Reopens Air Borders for Non-Essential Travel

Since September 7, fully vaccinated foreign nationals have been eligible to enter Canada for non-essential reasons, such as tourism; if they meet certain expectations. To enter the country travelers must be fully vaccinated, provide a negative COVID test before travel, be asymptomatic, submit the mandatory information via ArriveCAN, be admissible under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, and take a test on arrival. As of midnight Monday night, September 6, quarantine requirements were eased for non-essential international travelers who have had a full course of a Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccine.

Eco-Tourism is the Future and Belize is the Destination

At a time like now, destination stewardship is critical as countries prepare to reopen borders and welcome travelers back — this includes a tentative reopening date for Belize’s air borders. When travelers are ready to go, destinations like Belize must be prepared to welcome travelers in a sustainable way. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to reshape a new normal in the travel industry — we have to rebuild smarter, wiser, and more sustainably. In Belize, sustainable travel, shorthand simply for tourism, must meet the needs of today without sacrificing our ability to meet the needs of the future. According to a…

Why You Should Consider A Weekday Getaway in Belize

With Belize being such a small country — roughly the size of Massachusetts — short weekend trips are easy to plan. A holiday rolling into the weekend may be a prime time to book that island getaway or a city break for a three-day holiday. The catch? Everyone will be thinking of doing the exact same thing. So why not break from the status quo and vacation during the week instead? Here are three tips to help convince you why a weekday vacation is a good idea.

The Independence of the Seas, which departed from Galveston, Texas on September 19th with over 1,650 persons onboard, included Belize as a part of its 8-day Western Caribbean Cruise.
