Nazmul Karim Chowdhury Sharun, the Director of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Chittagong Abahani, has been elected as member of the Information and Research Sub-Committee. of Bangladesh Awami League. The announcement was made by Bangladesh Awami League’s General Secretary, Mr. Obaidul Quader, after approval from the party’s top leadership.

The Information and Research Sub-Committee, led by former Vice-Chancellor and Ambassador Dr. Saidur Rahman, holds a crucial role as a ‘think tank’ within the party. It is responsible for collecting, storing, and analyzing all relevant information and data at both the national and international levels. The committee plays a vital role in providing valuable insights for policy-making and conducts essential research to meet the party’s needs.

Sharun Chowdhury’s appointment to this esteemed sub-committee reflects his dedication and notable contributions to the Awami League. Notably, he has previously served as a member of the Central Finance and Planning Sub-Committee and the Central Election Management Sub-Committee, showcasing his active involvement in key decision-making processes within the party.

Hailing from a background of strong political ties, Sharun Chowdhury is the only son of Jatiya Sangsad Whip Samshul Haque Chowdhury MP. Furthermore, his role as the Chairman of Patia Foundation, a well-known charity organization, highlights his commitment to social welfare and community development.

Beyond his political engagements, Sharun Chowdhury has achieved international recognition for his leadership and contributions to student politics. During his time as an international student, he held the esteemed position of the elected International Officer of London Metropolitan University Students Union and President of International Students Forum UK from 2007 to 2010. His outstanding role in international student politics was acknowledged with felicitation by Queen Elizabeth II of Britain at Buckingham Palace.

Sharun Chowdhury’s academic achievements further enhance his contributions to the party. As an IT professional and entrepreneur, he possesses an impressive educational background, having pursued higher education in artificial intelligence technology from Oxford University’s Said Business School and foreign policy from Sous University of London. His expertise in these domains adds valuable insights to the party’s information and research initiatives.

In addition to his political and academic pursuits, Sharun Chowdhury has also displayed his coordination skills in the sports arena. He successfully organized Bangladesh’s prestigious international football tournament, the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup, on three occasions.
