Service portfolio is part of the service design domain. It tracks the entire service/product lifecycle from in process (service pipeline) to current (service catalog) to retired (decommissioned services). Below is a more in-depth breakdown of the three service portfolio components:

  • Service pipeline: future or in-process products and services
  • Service catalog: current products and services. This is the only part of the service portfolio that is available to customers. You provide support for everything in the service catalog.
  • Retired services (decommissioned services): services that are no longer been supported.

Learning the three service portfolio components will help you navigate where you’re at in the service portfolio lifecycle.
