Tell that to Nintendo!

In all seriousness, Gamers tend to be a very fickle bunch anyway. Microsoft built the greatest loyalty scheme in videogames in the form of backwards compatibility: all your Xbox 360 digital purchases carry over to the Xbox One as does your ‘gamerscore’ and yet gamers flocked to the PlayStation 4 because of some bad PR on Microsoft’s part.

And yet die hard loyalty to a company is what built the industry and still goes on today. Nintendo got through the drought years of the N64 and the WiiU on the back of a very loyal consumer base who have gone on to make the Switch the best selling console of the last 2 years.

And yet SEGA, a company that once had the same die hard loyalty as Nintendo died because their fans ran to PlayStation, even though the Dreamcast was one of the greatest consoles ever made.

Go figure!
