I’d like to start writing but don’t know how to
I guess I could start with why I’d like to start writing. I’ve been lurking Medium for a while and really enjoying the whirlwind of high-quality conversation happening everywhere. Having just read an article about an author’s friend being apprehensive to work in her office because of a mundane problem with a plant being in the way I noticed that I had the same problem.
The point of said piece is that people will tend to emphasise the obstacles that hold them back when the only thing they need to do to get started is to just do so. In the same article, the author mentioned the chicken-egg problem of not beginning writing because you want to have an audience to start writing. But in reality I suppose it works the other way; you need to start writing to build an audience.
So having officially started now, what I hope to gain from writing is a better understanding of all the crazy stuff that happens in my world. I find I tend to have a lot of really different problems to the rest of my demographic so I’m not really expecting people to be able to relate, I’m just looking to keep track of how I’m doing and through practise get better at doing so.
Obviously this is my first attempt at blogging so I guess I’ll learn to write about more interesting things, and to use less words as I write more.
I’ll write a bit about myself soon, but I’m personally the kind of person to skim read small packets of articles so I’ll do you the favour of stopping when I run out of content and keep this first one short!
Thanks for being cool.
