I like your approach better than the existing app, but removing the card picture from the main page isn’t such a good idea.

It’s true that one seldom adds a new card, but having the card in the main page accomplishes two very important (and related) things:

  1. It provides a space for bank branding. If you want banks to be onboard with this service, they’d better have some place to show off their brand.
  2. Users already trust cards (a lot). By showing the card with such a strong presence they’re bringing that trust into the service, otherwise you have to bootstrap that trust from scratch based on the app merits alone.
