I like your approach better than the existing app, but removing the card picture from the main page isn’t such a good idea.
It’s true that one seldom adds a new card, but having the card in the main page accomplishes two very important (and related) things:
- It provides a space for bank branding. If you want banks to be onboard with this service, they’d better have some place to show off their brand.
- Users already trust cards (a lot). By showing the card with such a strong presence they’re bringing that trust into the service, otherwise you have to bootstrap that trust from scratch based on the app merits alone.
