You’re message about diversification is on point and should have been/should be a part been every YouTuber’s strategy for building a dedicated audience.

It’s the price you pay for building an audience on someone else’s platform, they make the decisions and you need to be ready to move when they decide to change things.

I fundamentally believe that everyone that makes content and wants to build a dedicated fanbase that lasts needs to have an off platform strategy.
