I think you were very good at showing empathy and concern for the person suffering, but you need to show empathy and concern for the officers standing around that person as well. Being a peace officer is a risky business and my interaction with them has been very anxious but not on my part but their side, heavy perspiration and heavy breathing which starts accelerating, because they do not know what to expect. Since they do not truly know your intentions. The biggest risk comes from the fact that they carry a weapon and if someone is planning to hurt them it may have a weapon as well, so the risk is high. That is one of the reasons you need to approach them with a lot of humility (you are not intending to harm them), because sh…t happens quickly and without notice. People usually think that they are dealing with a friend or a neighbor when approaching a peace officer and they are not, Peace officers know they are at risk all the time that is the nature of the job.
