What moment or experience inspired you to start your own company?
The early moment that inspired me to be an entrepreneur was when I was a teenager, around 14 years old, looking at my parents struggling to get money for food. That was what drove me to start my own company.
Did you ever doubt yourself or face significant challenges starting out?
I grew up poor. My parents didn’t have the means to support my studies so I didn’t have the opportunity to graduate — but I never doubted myself. A lot of people didn’t believe in me, including my parents, friends and people that didn’t understand what it meant to have a dream, or the power of personal strength, sacrifice and perseverance. You cannot doubt yourself. Similarly, you should be careful not to surround yourself with negative people that can make you doubt yourself.
I’d encourage any aspiring entrepreneur to listen to your gut, learn, act, stand up any time you fall down, treasure the mistakes you make and take lessons from great businesses.
What does “success” look like for your company five years from now?
Our goal is to be the first independent worldwide online brand working direct from China and Asia. We are also starting to localize our business with an American, European and South East Asian units. We want our success to be built on ideas, hard work, creativity, dedication, customer happiness and learning from our competitors’ mistakes. Those are the assets that can keep your company VC free and, in the long run, substitute even millions of dollars in investment from potential investors.
Five years from now, we hope to have hundreds of thousands of repeating customers monthly and and give a good life to more than 1,000 employees worldwide.
